Saya tergoda membaca novel ini karena ada iming-iming best seller di sampul bukunya, ketika saya melihatnya di Periplus. Saya bersyukur karena saya tidak jadi membeli buku ini, bukan berarti saya tidak menyukai isi ceritanya secara keseluruhan. Hanya saja bagi saya untuk harga buku di periplus tidak sebanding dengan isi ceritanya. Thanks to internet for the free ebook :-D
Actually since I followed English Reading Challenge, I found that reading English is more fun and I prefer e-book than real book. I'm sorry for being a bad girl, because I love plunder. Just say I'm a stingy woman, because I prefer collect those all many for books to buy a tab. hahaha
Sorry, back to the story..
I love the synopsis. It made me think that James never love Theo or James are really a cruel guy. And when I started the book, I found that the really cruel man was James's father.
That old man force James to married Theo, event James still 19 years old than. James 2 years older than Theo and they already be best friend since they were child. Some how James think that Theo or Daisy love him like a brother.
In other side, Theo love James but she never expected that man would be her husband, or kiss her lips. His father asked him to kiss Theo in a party in front lot of people, so Theo's mother will asked them marry soon.
That was her first kiss, she never thought James have a feel for her, but because James already told every one that she is James's. James wants her, he love Theo. All he want is to make Theo happy. Their marriage just happen for two days. After Theo knew why James married her, she drove him out of his house.
For several years, Theo lived with out James, she already proof that the ugly Duchess has become the beautiful Duchess. Theo became a great woman, she can run her business by her own. Unfortunately Theo not have a child, she was alone. It just her mother and James's cousin who always by her side.
Theo try to find out where was James, but no one ever know his news. For seven years, where finally Theo want to announce James's dead, a pirate came and told every Duke that he is James.
It was true, he was James, but he wasn't the old James. This James have a tattoo, which every Duke shouldn't have it, and his life as a pirate give a scare to his wife.
James tried to fix his married, but Theo already with her final decision. She want divorce.
Like I said before, I'm lucky for not buying the book. I love the story, but I'm missing something. This story like don't have a conflict for me. If the author thought that James's father and his idea is a conflict, I felt it not enough. Sorry to say, but this is not a bad book, just almost perfect.
